Flowers-2

Pin It This Christmas I recieved a new and better camera. It was a Nikon Coolpix L20. So I went this morning and yesterday, and captured some beautiful pictures of flowers around my yard and my grandma's yard. I hope you like them!

This moth opens it's wings to the sky

Dew collects on a poinsetta in the morning

Budding roses fill my Grandma's backyard

Purple flower buds lay against a cloudy sky

I love capturing the beautiful pink of the leaves and the red stems of this plant

Light Tricks

Pin It This is a neat little trick to do if you have just the run of the mill camera like I do. Cheap cameras are bad with movement and make the pictures a bit blurry. But if you want pictures of light, you need a camera that takes bad pictures (excuse me, not the best pictures). Anyway, to take pictures like the one below, you need the surrounding area to be pretty dark. I was at a hotel and went outside and took these pictures of the hall light. Then you have to focus the picture on the light and jerk your camera whatever way you want the light to be in your picture (ex: jerk it in a circle, up and down or side to side). I applied this technique and here are my resulting pictures. Enjoy!

Two light sources collide in this picture.

I brought my camera down in to a "U" shape.

I jerked the camera side to side for this.

To get many lines to intersect, find some place with a lot of lights.

Everyone's ready for Christmas.. Even my dog

Pin It I looked up on the internet pet photo linky parties to enter, and found a good one that started today. Here is their button:
This is a link to that party Anyway it had a Christmas theme, and I decided to take a picture of my dog, and came up with some pretty good pictures. Only the first picture has a Christmas theme, but I liked the others and decided to add them in. Thanks, and enjoy!

If Santa doesn't come, my dog will be really sad..

My dog posing by the Christmas

Look at the window, it looks like fingerprints, and the flowers, a painting.

My dog always checks the perimeter.

My dog always get excited when you jiggle the doorknob.

A close up shot. He looks so focused :)

Conures

Pin It I doubt any of you have seen a bird quite this beautiful. "Red chains" around their feet, beautiful green bodies, irredescent blue bib. Dark blue tail feathers, and juveniles ringed tails. An exotic breed escaped from captivity here are some pictures of the Nanday Conure. Enjoy!

Every day at a certain time these beautiful birds arrive at the feeder.

You can clearly see the underside of the tail as this bird "gawks" at the camera!

This curious conure is cocking its head at my dog Jip.

These birds are very curious, and great picture posers.

You can see the red chains, the blue tail feathers and the blue bib clearly in this picture.

Contests

Pin It I will update this page once at the start of every month, so on January 1, check back later. Sorry for the delay, I don't want to start it at the middle of the month.

Angle Shots

Pin It I know you all have been waiting for a tip or a trick. This Tips 'n' Tricks post will help you take angle shots to better enhance the over all look of your photo. The first angle I will show you is the aerial. The aerial view is not for everything, (great for flowers though!) and I used an American Girl doll for all these angles to make it easier for you to see the various angles I used. The doll may not be the best representation of these angles, please note. To do the aerial view, you need a steady hand or a tripod to do this. Just take a picture of the top of the object. Here is my aerial picture.

The next angle shot I will show you is a bit like the aerial, but it is better to use when taking pictures of objects like the doll and even real people. I call it the aerial front view. It isn't taken directly above the object as you can see from my picture, but slightly forward, so that you can see the doll's face easier. Here is my aerial front view of my doll:

The next angle shot is just a straight on view, which is what people take normally. I'm sure you don't need any instruction or even a picture, but I will provide a picture anyway so you can compare the angle shots, and see which one best suits you.

The next angle shot I will share with you is called a "sub shot". You take a picture from beneath the object. This is the technique I used in taking the photo in Flowers in My Backyard. It was the pictuure with the purple flower underneath a bird feeder. If you can get the picture focused correctly, you can get a beautiful picture out of it. Just make sure the picture is focused correctly. This is key. My "sub shot" is shown above this text.
The final angle shot you can create to enhance your pictures is an side angle shot. It is more of the well known techniques and photographers use it often. Just take a picture of the side of an object, all the while making sure the photo is focused. Above is my side angle shot. Please excuse the background. Hope these help. You can comment and give me more ideas on what you want my next tips 'n' tricks should be.

Flowers in My Backyard

I captured the simplicity of this small purple flower.
 t
This plant seems suited for winter with its red stem.

This flower is the bud of a cucumber plant.

I used a special technique for this photo. Check it out at Tips 'n' Tricks.
I went outside today and decided to take pictures of some beautiful flowers I thought were worthy of sharing. I used many techniques which you can view on my Tips 'n' Tricks page. Regardless of appearance, these pictures were taken by me. :)

A cool angle shot

Despite its looks, this photo was taken in the afternoon.
Here are pictures I took at various places-the time of day when the sign shines straight through the glass window in our door. Hope you like them!

Getting Back in the Groove :)

Pin It I am sorry that I haven't been keeping up with this blog, but I am happy to continue working on it. I have no new pictures to share ( :(  ) but I will post some more soon. December 7th is the date I will know who won that trip to Costa Rica! Wish me luck! I have bought some flower seeds that I will soon plant, and when they bloom I will take some pictures to share. My future pictures posted will consist of nature mostly. I am taking a trip later to North Carolina so I will take nice pictures of that state and post them. Keep taking amazing pictures! I will post tips soon...
